The Theodosia Mantzavinou Photographic Archive (1980-2010)
Mrs Theodosia Mantzavinou, Corfiot of Cephalonian origin and retired teacher of the Athens College, donated in December 1015, in memory of her parents, Dionisios Mantzavinos and Anastasia Mantzavinou-Kambitsi, her rich archive of photographs of Corfu.
The photographs portray Corfu town, its suburbs, and the village Peritheia covering, approximately, the period 1980-2010. The archive consists of 33 files with 1,060 printed photographs in total, a number of which are presented below.
Through her sensitive look, Theodosia Mantzavinou captures the characteristics of a city that is constantly changing…
The two fortresses, the general views of the densely-built city area, details and snapshots of the Corfiot urban life, the buildings bombed in World War II, as well as people representative of Corfu, compose a mosaic made of memory and love.
Currently, 70 representative photographs are presented here.
